Background

Africa Advocacy Foundation (AAF ) was established 12 years ago with the aim of empowering and improving the welfare of marginalised and disadvantaged African communities in the UK and overseas. Through a number of community initiatives, we support individuals and families to overcome poverty, illhealth, socilal injustices etc and maximise their life opportunities.

We promote access and participation in the uptake and delivery of health, education and other social welfare services through the provision of resources, information, advice, training and support.

We aim to help communities build sustainable livelihoods by supporting self-help initiatives and campaigns, providing resources, advice, training and fundraising for community projects as well as sharing good practice with other agencies.

Current Services:

Advocacy,campaigns, emotional and practical support, HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, mental health support, education, mentoring for young people, family support, training and referral services all aimed at promoting informed choices and improving the welfare of disadvantaged individuals and communities that we serve.

Currently, we directly support over 1500 beneficiaries annually through a number of community initiatives that includes HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention and support; programmes for unaccompanied refugees, young cares, African elderly, a family nutrition project, support for victims of domestic violence, advocacy against FGM, volunteer training and accreditation, community newsletter, IT and job access skills programme, youth peer mentorship programme etc.

We are blessed with a dedicated team of 8 experienced and skilled trustees, who are democratically elected annually by AAF members and are responsible for the overall governance and safeguarding the AAF values as well as providing the strategic direction to enable us realise our charitable objectives.
